From Neil Wilson:

"That is a 1930 85-B Panel Delivery. It may have been used as a hearse (but it is not actually a hearse)"

In looking over the pictures of all the stuff on the auction it seems as if the gentleman that had all this stuff either was involved in the funeral home business or at the very least had a fascination with it. I'm gussing it was made to look like a hearse but probably not used as one.

I saw the pictures on the Hemmings site and it appears that this truck really was built as a hearse. It has casket rollers on the inside but otherwise looks just like a regular 1 1/2 ton panel. Would this be a cheaper model or built aftermarket?

If I remember correctly the purpose built hearse (non Ford body) had the Lincoln wheels and different hubs, and a few other changes, see page 15 of the double AAer 2010.

He didn't. It was a quote from a communication he and I had earlier about the truck.

Those are modern casket rollers that can be purchased from a modern day hearse builder. From time to time for 12 years I transported new funeral vehicles for a local builder in Somers, CT, Parks Superior.

Seems like a lot of money for this truck but then where are you going to find one? How many were made and how mant still exist (this one looks like it's in good cond.)?
