Spectria, we bought Phoenix from a place called "Gene's Hot Rod Shop" in Knoxville. The cab was not for sale, unfortunately.
I'm pretty sure they wanted it for a hot rod project. :( :|

And I'm wondering how you could tell it is a BB Chassis? It has a AA Radiator, headlamps and engine and transmission! But I suppose the only way to find out is to find the serial number on the frame. Where would the number be on a BB Chassis? You know now that I think about it, Model AA's rear springs were upside down weren't they? Mine are totally different. Now this truck is getting very interesting!

Thanks for your replies guys,
(PIC from Neil Wilson)

the rear crossmember has been cut and welded in 2 spots, im wondering if they took a section out and it bent where the rear bumps are when they tried to straightene the rear of the frame...

The chassis is a '30 or E'31 with tapered frame rails. Late '31 up has straight frame rails. Will try to post '32 BB rear right spring hanger Can not find '32 picture at this time. (The one pictured is a '34 BB, They are the same)

I also think it WAS a straight frame rail truck but it looks like they bent it in
to get the springs to fit, probably the reason for the welds on the rear cross member.

The interesting thing is that the rear end for a BB is two inches wider than an AA rear end. I'm wondering if the hangers stick out from the frame more on a BB than an AA?

The BB frame is about 2" wider than an AA frame. The BB frame rails are straight where the spring hangers are, may be up to under the cab. In the picture it looks like about a 2" splice on the left side (driver side) of the front spring hanger cross member. then the frame rails have to be paralell to each other. The last cross member may not have to change the length because the AA frame is tapered!! Shelby, Louisiana.

I have a BB frame with rear end in it. What dimensions and or pictures are you looking for? If you want pictures, someone will have to show me the instructions on how to successfully attach them.

Wow. It's been a looooooong time.

To answer some questions for those who are curious... I no longer have Phoenix. I sold her in late May of 2014.

It's a rather interesting story. You see, I put her up for sale, and after some calls came in, one guy called, and offered a decent price.

He lived outside Knoxville, which incidentally is where I bought the truck. Got it there and saw waiting a similarly rusty hood and cab. I asked him what the story was on those, and he told me he got them at a hot rod shop in Knoxville. I asked him if it was Gene's Hot Rod Shop, and he said yes.

Long story short, this guy went and bought the hood and cab just after I got the rest of it. We were both tickled-to-death that by chance we had reunited Phoenix's parts back together again.

Once we had her unloaded, I said my goodbyes to Phoenix, and we went home.

I have heard nothing back from the man who bought her. If he's here, please do not hesitate to post! I'd love to hear what ever happened to her.

Anyway, thanks so much for wanting to know what happened. And thanks for all your help.

The important thing to ask is, Does the engine number match the number on the frame?

I never could find out. I did find the number on the chassis, but it was too far gone.

Like I say, I no longer have her...
