29 AA speedo inner drive cable

Post by njcar757 »

I'm working on my 29 AA, it has the oval speedometer, I have the outer conduit, it's about 82" long. Does any supplier sell just the inner drive cable?
Can I go to an automotive parts house and buy a universal drive cable and make it work?
thanks nick c

That's not the one for his truck, he needs AA-17262-A.

Try Sniders. I think I saw them there. Also had them for mixed up installations.

Bob, is it wrong based on fitment or just part #?

It fit on my 131.5...

Dave,

What kind of speedometer do you have? It looks like that package says 30, 36.

It's Oval...

Does the drive end change from 29-e30 to lt30? The length seems the same.

The drive end of the cable for the oval speedometer is round with a key and the
round speedometer cable drive end is square.

In addition to the oval speedometers having cables with a different end than the later ones, I'm pretty sure the cables were a larger diameter, like the housings. I don't know if a thin later style speedo cable would work in the large diameter housing. It might flop around too much.
