The Buckwheat saga continues with the rear end finally freeing up.

Remove of the rear plate on the on the '29 worm drive rear end.

Remove the castle nut and large star washer (the washer is keyed so pry it off towards you, do not try to unscrew it)

You will find a huge bearing that is rusted and frozen solid..........Or at least that is what I found. The bearing slip easily off of the shaft but after 2 days soaking shows no signs of freeing up. The number on the bearing is AA 9406 and the name Curney or Gurney.

Anyone know where to find this bearing or does anyone have one to sell?

If it is a ball bearing the Ford part number is AA-4696-AR, if it is a roller bearing the part number is AA-4615-AR

Tom in Portland at the model A works has precious few of these left. hang on to your hat cause they are expensive! I think they are around $140.00, but hey- if you've got to have one, then you gotta have one. I think if that booger is frozen you might want to get the whole thing apart and see what else is trashed.
