Do you have a picture of the square one? Is it bolted to the differential directly or in the drive-line?

Sirs: The round High / High that is in my truck I wish to keep. The square one was bolted dirrectly to a worm drive rear axel, Stampe "B" a Hi speed version that has wide break drums and dual stamped rims on them. So I think it may be a newer model. The high speed rear axel, square High / High, and the rims etc. are all for sale as I can't use them. (unless I pull the gears out to exchange with my low speed ones. I'll hae to think about that one)..

No pix as my computor is screwwwwwed up.

Let me know your thoughts..

Finally checked out the trany. (Hi /Hi). Cast in the side of it is manufactured by Linclon manufacturing company. It has two gear possitions. One is straight through Or One to One, and the other gear position is a 25% Overdrive. ( And Neutral of course). One turn of the input side gives 1 1/4 turns on the output. So I think it would / could be called a two speed rear end as it was bolted directly to the rear end. (high speed worm drive). It had dual rims on it and stamped steel rims. Also had seperate Service break and parking break.

Any one know if there any stamped numbers that I can look for to give a date?

Is it like this? The patent says it's a three speed. https://docs.google.com/viewer?url=pate ... 702889.pdf

Yup. Thats the one. ( Looks like it). But I don't see how they get a three speed out of it? I had the top off to watch the gears shift and in one possition a gear moved to run through the counter shaft. In the other possition it slid a gear to lock the input to the output. I can't see how there would be another position. I'll try to blow the patten drawing up larger ans see what I can learn from that.

So..... To use this on my 28,, I would have to shorten the torque tube and drive shaft. Be not to get a 25% over drive but I hate to butcher the original system. I'm thinking of taking the gears out of the high speed rear end for possible switch with the Low speed ones in the truck today.

Is it worth it????
