inside mirror mount location
I just bought a new mirror for the '28 Briggs closed cab and would like to know exactly where it gets mounted. Dad Rebuilt the interior and some of the structure so we lost the exact location.. Anyone know Exactly how high from the window frame or other reference point?
Thanks again for any help..

Re: inside mirror mount location
I may be wrong and please correct me if I am wrong but I don't think trucks came with rear view mirrors. I think they were a dealer or aftermarket accessories.

Re: inside mirror mount location
What is a Briggs closed cab? I don't believe Ford ever sold this body type.

Re: inside mirror mount location
As far as I know closed cabs only had outside mirrors.
I also think Budd only made the late 31 steel top cab.

Re: inside mirror mount location
yea i ve never seen a rear view mirror on a 28/29 closed cab truck. that's why they had 2 outside mirrors. that tiny rear "picture frame" of a window you wouldnt gain alot from having an inside rearview mirror...

Re: inside mirror mount location
The 82-A and 82-B closed cabs came from the assembly line with one left side view mirror for US commercial A/AA's. There was likely a right side mirror setup for right hand drive units. Those 82-A cabs for right hand drive A/AA setups would have required the hinge pillar d-nuts starting in early 1929 A/AA's to allow this installation. I have not seen this however.
Starting in mid 1928, the rear window was lowered a few inches form the original high position. The A inside mirror does not work and there are no d-nuts in the windshield header to install it. Years ago, I installed an A inside mirror with sheet metal screws. I had to make up some extensions for the bracket to lower the mirror so I could actually see through the rear window.
It has been determined that the 82-A closed cab was supplied by Budd about six months ago. This is in the 2014 Double A'er. A Budd archive photograph can be seen at http://www.fordgarage.com/pages/EGBudd82ACab.htm.
Since Budd supplied the 82-A and the 82-B steel top cabs, it is likely that Budd also supplied the 82-B soft top cab as well. However, no documentation of this has turned up.
