Brackets on the Frame.

Post by wv model AA »

A friend pointed out that he felt my 31' Dump Truck wasn’t always a Dump Truck by showing me the bracket that I have mounted on each side on the frame directly behind the cab.

He’s guessing that it could have been originally a Flat Bed Dually Truck?

So folks, what do you think?

WV, That is the bracket that my 29 has that holds the front part of the wood to the frame. I seee it looks like it is bolted on, Mine is riveted to the frame. If you would likes some pics, e-mail me at 1929oldlady@gmail.com my name is Terry.

yea the bracket looks framiliar but i thought the bracket bolted to the wood and then was attached to the frame on the topside of the frame not the side...

and yes it does look too far forward...

perhaps it was a flatbed and someone inverted and bolted the brackets back on an existing hole for whatever reason...

heres what they should look like for a platform
Image

the bolt that is not present in the pic goes thru the splash apron and thru a bracket welded to the frame. The bolt that is present goes thru the backet and thru the bare wood on the support.

as you can tell im in dire need of long splash aprons and running boards...

Thanks Guys for the feedback. Makes you wonder if that bracket was standard on all frames?

My 30-31 frame doesn't have them but they may have been removed but my 29 frame that had front shocks and third running board bracket has them but one sideis snapped off. Don't really know what the 29 frame was really

In the pictures above - you guys see the hole about an inch or so behind the rear running board bracket?(particularly spectras or Bobc's pictures) That hole on mine has a small L bracket with a rectangle slot in the top identical to the rear cab mount which i also have present. I do not have the 2 hole beefy bracket you guys are showing (the holes are present but show no signs of anything ever being there)

what would that small L bracket be for? its riveted to the frame...
