Left rear fender saved from scrap yard
The guy I'm restoring his E'31 coupe brought this fender by to see if I could use it, if not was going to scrap it. I tole him that it was repairable so just leave it. This is what I started with

Re: Left rear fender saved from scrap yard
The above left fender was for a '28-'29 coupe. I changed it to a '30-'31 pickup fender. I lot dent to remove and welds to grind, but looks much better now Shelby, Louisiana.

Re: Left rear fender saved from scrap yard
I've been using saw horses to hold my fenders while I'm welding and straightening. The problem with the saw horses is they keep shifting and turning over. I have a minne hoist with a hand crank that I'm going to engineer a adjustable holder to hold front and rear fenders, doors and whatever I want to weld. The holder is adjustable to 360* in a radius and set in any position and hold. Completely disassemblable. I have not came up with a tilt yet that will adjust from lying flat to vertical and hold in any position. I'll post pictures later Shelby, Louisiana
Below is a picture of the sawhorse I was using pix 530
Next is as I was progressing on fender holder pix 529
This pix is when I first mounted the fender Pix 531
note the locking crescent wrench That thing is very handy

I positioned the chair to show the height pix 538
the last pix shows the under side, where I can weld, grind and straighten as needed pix 539 all
Please excuse the clutter and mess in my shop It is kinda small Shelby, Louisiana

Re: Left rear fender saved from scrap yard
These pix are of the front of the '30-'31 pickup converted from a '28-'29 coupe. I made a new reinforcement plate to support the running board to fender.
1st pix is where I removed the reinforcement plate pix 540
2nd pix shows the reinforcement plate already made and compared I should have taken pix as I was making it but no responses just views pix 541
(note my 2 two leg chair to left)
3rd pix is side x side of the two plates.Note my body hammerin top of pix pix 542

Re: Left rear fender saved from scrap yard
In this pix I have the reinforcement plate clamped in place only. I have welding, grinding, plenty of cleaning and dents to remove and straightening to do Shelby, Louisiana.

Re: Left rear fender saved from scrap yard
Yes, I will through clean ALL visible rust that I can see and some I can't see. Then use metal prep before prime and seal. I still have welding to do and getting out ALL the dents also. I'll post more pix of the fender later Shelby, Louisiana.
