AA spare wheel carrier?

Post by Matt »

I have a 1929 AA Dump truck in buckets basically, that I'm restoring and wanted to know where the spare would be mounted.

Thanks,
Matt

Dump trucks usually have had the frame shortened. The part of the frame which holds the spare is usually removed.

In early 1931, Ford used the left front fender for dump trucks. Prior to that, no wheel carrier was provided.

Thanks Neil, I wasn't sure. That's one part I don't have to hunt down.

Matt are you restoring for show? Would it be completely incorrect to frame mount a spare? I think the side mounts look very cool.

They do look nice, but my fenders don't have the indentation for the spare tire.
