Spindle stamping
All, I was just replacing king pin bushings and noticed that the spindle bracket said TRUCK on the back of it. Is this the only place Ford used the word Truck on my 29 AA? Just a thought.

JPP:
I've never seen "TRUCK" on any AA part. That's way cool! Thanks for sharing.

Re: Spindle stamping
I think this was put on the new heavy spindles so they would not
be confused with the Model A spindle used previously.

Re: Spindle stamping
So I know I have seen Ford Trucks on TT flatbeds, but I am not sure if they were made by Ford, so is this the first time ford put the words TRUCK on their vehicles, just a fun thought. I am sure Neil knows..

Re: Spindle stamping
I believe Bob C would be correct, depending on which vendor Ford used to produce them, they probably ID them with there own markings, the ones that I have had, have had TRUCK - plus A-A embossed on the inside.

Re: Spindle stamping
The following is a paragraph which I sent to the JSC for section E revisions:
Spindles
AA spindles were used starting in mid February 1929. This change marked the beginning of wheel nuts being stamped “R” and “L”. Prior AA’s used all right hand threaded wheel nuts without any stamping. Some 1929 AA spindles had a raised “TRUCK” marking on the spindle’s king pin side (beginning about May 1929 or later).

JJP,
Mine is just like yours, and I have a 1929 AA built 8-30-29. My spindles have raised letters [AA] on them.

Re: Spindle stamping
weird.. my march 29 (built in 1st 2 weeks of march) has raised letters TRUCK on the spindle side with nothing on the kingpin side...the grease sling shield partially covers it but is easily visible...Mine also has left and right handed nuts.Neil Wilson wrote:The following is a paragraph which I sent to the JSC for section E revisions:
