Attached is a picture of a BB tower (on the right) and an AA tower (on the left). Notice the extended shifter rail bosses and plugs on the end. The front end is the same on both towers with no plugs. This solves half of the rail oil leakage. Steve.

Will the BB tower bolt-on to the AA gearbox?

Is that BB tower on a BB transmission in a BB truck?

The parts book shows the shift tower fitting 1929-42.

It is a BB tower on an AA box. I have collected about a dozen or so 4 speed transmissions at various swap meets for between $5 and $30 each, mostly for the cluster gear shaft, since that item is no longer available anywhere. I like to have quiet transmissions, and that shaft is galled up on many. I have a couple of 40s gearboxes and I will see if one of those later towers (has no reverse lockout lever) will work on an AA box. I bet it will. I have adapted the 1928 underdrive to the 4 speed using the small Model A pickup 4 speed bearing retainer and x-joint. I had to "make" the-joint from the underdrive to the bevel driveshaft out of a car and a truck x-joints. Steve.

Are you planning on pulling a freight train? :-)

Steve,

I was thinking it looked like it was on an AA transmission. I bought a cluster shaft a couple years ago for my '34, I didn't know that they weren't making them anymore.
