1 1/2 Weight Tag

Post by MarkJones15 »

I picked up one of these vintage weight tags awhile back. Anyone know the history on these, and if they where used in 1930.

were these state issued or something? seems weird to have it in existence if not... Early form of DOT for trucking?(overloaded etc)

possibly city issued so the heavy weight wouldnt tear up roads perhaps?

These are reproduction tags often sold on ePay. Many times the sellers will bury them in the ground for a while to make them look old and sell them to unsuspecting buyers for high prices. Nothing special and not conected to any registration purpose.

I have this original one my father had on his truck. It is a 1929 Utah 2 1/2 ton. (. Could not get the pic to load, sorry) He sandblasted it to clean it up and reprint it but unfortunately he passed away before he could paint it. If anyone knows the correct color it would be appreciated.

Thanks

Villelmds, a couple suggestions re: photos:
1. Put something like a coin or dollar bill next to the item so viewers can tell what size the subject is.
2. Then edit the photo right away to trim away all the unneeded marginal area. Smaller photos are easier to post.

Thanks for the suggestions, sometimes i feel like the computer is smarter than i am. I hope I did this right to give a size of the plate. It is sitting next to a VHS tape.

I have the exact plate as above with the U, but mine says 1 1/2 ton and the year is 30. Total rust so no color could be identified. I am in Michigan but my truck came from out west.
