Re: Almost ready:1931 AA
That is one nice truck. That just gives me more strength to keep working on mine, don't get me wrong I haven't quite working on it. Have fun and enjoy. Hope you don't mind I saved the pictures to my hard drive in my computer.

Re: Almost ready:1931 AA
Thanks for the compliments!
I only regret this one is a year late as I had trouble with painter and wood workers. Just getting the ducks in order for VIN and insurance, so I'll allow 4 to 6 weeks for that nonsence and then start trucking!
Next project is a restore on Dad's 1930 Pick up. He'd finished that truck in the mid eightys and has driven it almost to the point where I am afraid he'll lose a fender! Ford tough as they say.

Re: Almost ready:1931 AA
Just a few more things too track down for the rack system. I am short a few of the stakes and need new wood and hardware in places.
The front, side, racks have the solid sheet metal panels (I call them advert panels) and I have found the wood slats to be riveted to the stakes and through the panels. These must have been cold riveted as hot rivets would have cooked the wood. Has anyone else found this on these front racks? If so did you just remove the rivets, wood and replace with carriage bolts?

Thanks! I looked at a lot of ways of putting something reflective on the back and most were too commercial, agricultural, or just boring.Stakebed wrote:she looks pretty! love the red chevrons on the back bed!
I happened upon an old black and white photo of a truck in the late thirtys or early forties with some reflective chevrons on the tail and recreated the look with reflective tape. Bit of a PIA to get them staight but i like it.

Man that's a sweet looking truck. What's hiding in the garage? 28-29 roadster?

That's the 1928 Special Coupe we finished up in 2010. Then we did up a 1929 Tudor Sedan for an "extra car" for my Father finished in 2012. Now this 31 for me and next up will be a restoration of Dad's 1930 P/u. (He's been working it to death since the late eigthys) So together we have one from every year of production.Tiny wrote:Man that's a sweet looking truck. What's hiding in the garage? 28-29 roadster?
Too bad we have run out of storage space, the roadster would be a neat idea.

Its funny how they tend to breed
My dad and I have stuck with 31's
I'm looking for a 31' AA local, maybe one day.
