1930 model aa water pump

Post by s147881 »

I removed the water pump off the engine and it has no packing nut. It has a 2 inch square cover which when opened is a cavity with a spring. This entire cavity is full of grease. I looked in all my resource books and I could not find this type of water pump. It also had a four blade fan. Is this a good pump? Can it be rebuilt? Please help.

I had one of those on my A many years ago. A guy stole my truck and I was lucky enought to get it back. But that pump was gone. I had never repacked it nor did it leak in the 16 years that I had it. I have no idea who made it as it was on my A when I bought it back in '61

Water Pump

It is an aftermarket water pump that was sold as an improvement against leaks. It is a good unit, as the spring keeps the shaft impeller tight against the housing, preventing leaks. It was sold through places like Monkey Ward, Sears, Western Auto, etc.
