AA Transmission CRACK!!!

Post by s147881 »

I removed the transmission yesterday and found a hairline crack about half way around the case in the rear. The crack is located about 1 inch from the rear and goes from the center of the side around the bottom and half way up the other side. I was able to remove all the gears. They all seem to be in good shape. Is this case something that I can get welded and not have any problems in the future? I do plan on replacing all the bearings as I rebuild the transmission.

Should I look for a case that is not cracked or get this welded. I do have a backup engine and transmission that I was saving for my next truck that I could take the transmission off.

Any Suggestions?

Replace it with a good case ,I wouldn't take a chance with it , there are to many transmissions out there to waste your time & money on welding up one. I have about ten extra tranmissions that are avaible . Bud Valerius
