Well heres the deal:

They may appear to "stretch" or get longer but that's due to the eyes getting wallowed out, pins getting worn down, and threads stretching on ends. While this wear may only be very very tiny it ads up quickly and before you know it you now what appears to be an extra inch of rod due to the slop everywhere else.

the rods for all practical purposes do not stretch, its everythign else wearing down that makes them appear to stretch.

Ever see old brake rods where theres 2" of thread sticking out of the end of the brake rod? or see where they have been cut off? much cheaper back then to cut part of the threaded rod off to get the adjustment they needed instead of properly replacing pins and rod eyes that are worn out.
