This transmission is from a '31, at least the tower has a 2-16-31 casting date......I've found the bearings gaskets etc, and most of the other parts, but I can't find a replacement counter-gear shaft. Are they just not available or are they the same as the A 3-speed transmission? I'm not rebuilding it yet, just looking at options...

Re: AA four speed transmission parts
All of the hard parts sold in the parts houses are NOS. The countershafts have been all sold for years now. Every $10 4 speed transmission that I see at swap meets I buy for the countershaft, some have good ones. Sacramento Vintage stocks only about 60%of the items listed in their catalog, the owners son is the purchasing person and does not like stock Model A Fords but he does like and stocks hot rod parts! Re: AA four speed transmission parts
Thanks Steve,
I called and though it's in their catalog they do not stock it...they are just not available new...VanPelt has a used one, but I'm not sure from what year transmission and I don't know if all 29-50 transmissions used the same shaft.
Plan now is to replace the bearings. I found that my pilot bearing was nearly frozen so I'm sure that accounted for the difficult shifting and some of the noise....Randy

Re: AA four speed transmission parts
I do not see an AA 7111 listed, but BB 7111 is listed at 9.16" for 29-34 and replaced by 51 7111 at 9.44" for 35-47.

Yes that is right... I had no luck searching for the AA-7111 so started looking for BB transmission parts.....

Re: AA four speed transmission parts
I was able to replace the input shaft bearing and the mainshaft pilot bearing....I was surprised at how well it went...the old bearing came off easily and the new one went on with a little tapping on the inner race with a brass hammer....
You can see that the mainshaft bearing was about shot...probably the source of my growling on deceleration....
Haven't found a gasket yet..!
