Since I can't seem to find one for sale in the known universe for my tapered frame AA, I guess I will attempt to build one.

Will use Neil Wilsons very detailed article on this platform in the 2008 FMAATC newsletter as a guide.
I have a couple of questions though.
1. Can't find (or missed) the top to bottom dimension for the 7 floor cross sills. Think it might be the same as the side sills??
Anybody have this info?
2. What are the top and side measurements for the heavy angle metal that surrounds the platform itself on the rear and both sides?

Thanks,
Ray

Contact Roger Gash - email rcgash@gmail.com - cell - 775-315-3192

Roger may still have most of the metal for the 185-A platform. His restored 185-A is to be on the cover of the 2016 Double A'er. He made all of the wood for his restoration.

Attached are some measurements from my drawings.

Thanks Neil for posting the dimensions and the contact info.

I am in the process of gathering parts to build this platform. Will wait, of course, to purchase the wood since
most wood bought from the lumberyards will warp overnight these days.

Ray, the "wet" lumber at the lumber yards these days will not only warp as it dries, it will shrink. To do your project right you need to dry the wood before you fit it to your purpose. I suggest buying what you will need and clamp it together straight and tight until it has dried out. Some lumberyards still sell kiln dried lumber but it is more expensive and still will need some more drying.

Hi ModelAkid ,

I like your idea. I have a heated place to store the wood for a couple months.

I checked into kiln dried hardwood at Austin Hardwoods in Denver. After the sticker shock on prices I decided to
take another path on the wood. They have kiln dried white pine also, but it is still pricey.

Hi Shorthaul,

I am in Lakewood Colorado just west of Denver. Would be interested in your truck bed.
My frame is the tapered one. Is your bed for that one?
