Ready to tackle the breaks

Post by s147881 »

I am ready to work on my breaks. What special tools will I need to go thru the breaks on an early 1930 model aa. Currently the wheels are still on and have not been removed by me. All the levers seam to move and nothing is frozen or rusted in place.

Removing the rear drums is a bitch. If the truck is running loosen the axle nuts and drive it around the block. Sometimes that will break them loose. If your truck is not running you will need a puller. Let me know if you find one. ;-)

re BRAKES

D NOT DRIVE WITH NUT BACKED OFF MORE THAN 1/12-2TURNs. The axle is tapered where the drum seats.a PULLER IS THE BEST WAY, YOUR LOCAL RENAL SHOP SHOULD HAVE ONE.

on my more recent truck (1995 s-10, yea i know not anywhere close to a model AA) we had to use a puller and apply heat while it was under tention fromt he puller. it slowly started to pop off.
