door handle question
door handle question
i found two original door handles on here about 2 years ago. good bakelite in middle. as i slide them into my 28 AA door, they are about 1 inch short of going into the square hole in the latch mechanism. in essence, the square shaft is short. was there an intermediate shaft from factory with couplers. OR is this square handle with nickel edging and bakelite insert used on another A. thank you, kevin

Re: door handle question
does the end look like it got cutoff?
Re: door handle question
no cutting, it looks perfect. it is actually more like 1-1/2 plus short. i am confused? what other application would take this with a shorter shaft?

For some reason mine were short also. I made short extensions and spot welded em on. Mac..

Re: door handle question
Can you post a photo? It may be a handle used on late Model T closed cars...

Re: door handle question
i welded extra square stock on. all set now. upon finer scrutiny i could see it had been cut. thank you for ideas, kevin
