My Gas Gauge is not working properly. I was told that the float might be rubbing against the Gas Tank Strainer.
What's an effective way to remove the Strainer? I noticed it has four notches equally spaced.
Thoughts?

That's actually a spark arrestor and it screws in. Chances are your float is probably not bouyant anymore and is sinking. They are pretty easy to change. Just make sure you drain the gas low enough . It comes out the front. There is a tool you need to unscrew it.

Vendors sell a removal tool. Good to have.wv model AA wrote:My Gas Gauge is not working properly. I was told that the float might be rubbing against the Gas Tank Strainer.

Re: Gas Tank Strainer & Gas Gauge
If you belong to a Model A club, someone is sure to have the tools to remove the gas gauge that you can borrow. If you replace the float you will also need the seal kit.
I once had a problem with the gauge arm rubbing on the strainer; it can happen. There are 2 types of strainers: one screws in and the other less common one has tabs so the strainer is only rotated a little bit to secure in place. Either one uses the same tool to remove. Dealers sell that tool, but I made my own.
