does anyone know how many links were original. also what size link? i also am wondering about ccpu top of door. when the window rolls up to the stopping point, there are three screw holes with areas to slide square nuts in. most of the vendors sell a foam gasket and adhesive to glue here. anyone have a photo of the original weather stripping that was screwed in? thank you, kevin

The tail gate chain links were made of 5/16” thick stock. They were 2-5/16” long x 1-7/16” wide. The twelve links were 19” long. With the 3-3/4” long hook, the total assembly was 22-1/4” long. The chain assembly allowed the tail gate to open about 104° rather than 90° like the 78-A pickup tail gate. A sheath covered the chain.

These chain assemblies are not being reproduced. I have an original pair of these chain assemblies to sell ($80+shipping). One assembly is missing the hook.

FYI - ccpu = for 1927 - June 1930 this stands for two Ford body types (82-A Closed Cab + 78-A Pick Up bodies). The 82-A and 85-A doors were carryover T doors. For the T there was a metal strip which held a rubber seal. This assembly was not used for the 82-A or 85-A. My guess is that Model T vendors may sell the T assembly.
