Jeff,
In my book, it is totally toast. With wear so uneven, the axle shaft may be bent also. So if you have the other hub off and it looks good, you might be down to having one good hub and axle shaft, some brake parts, and a drive shaft out of all this. If this axle is not a high speed ratio, it is probably of greatest value to you to put the hubs back on and put the axle back under the frame so you have a roller until you get a high speed axle that is good. I think you now know that nobody can tell a good axle from a bad axle just by looking at it so buy the next one either cheap or try to get a 30 day return or money back guarantee.

Thanks Dave, I thought it would be. The axle seems to be perfectly straight but who knows!
