I need to know how the transmission attaches to the hi/low gearbox on our trucks. im tryign to remove the engine but it seems as tho the input shaft is stuck on the clutch disk or somehting else in the bellhousing. so it looks like its comming out with it.
but how does the tranny attach to the gearbox so i can disconnect them and get the tranny and engine out?
How to remove...

Hello Stakebed,
If you have the three speed transmission and Ford dual high, then remove the outer universal housing (clam shells) from the rear of the three speed transmission. This allows the engine, clutch housing, and transmission to be removed as one unit.
The u-joint between the three speed and dual high is bolted to the three speed and therefore slips off the dual high when the transmission moves forward.

I have tried four times to post a picture without luck. There is an outer u-joint housing at the front end of the torque tube also.

Okay, attached is a picture of the u-joint housing at the front end of the torque tube. The second pictures is of a coupling shaft with a '28 u-joint housing which would attach to the three speed. Both are the same as used on the A.
