I've be using the C L R for years. finally got on the right track with it. Haven't got all the bugs out yet, but it is working well for me. what I'm doing with it is soaking nuts and bolts in it for a couple of days. I rinse them off then put metal prep. on them most all the rust is gone :D Just thaught someone may want to know. Shelby, Sacramento

White Vinegar is cheaper and does the same thing.

Vinegar does work well in removing rust, but I've fell for C L R head over heels. I'm restoring a rust free L-31 coupe I've owned for 35 yrs. After 86 yrs. and as little surface rust and with being in Louisiana for 35 plus yrs. with all the moister it is beautiful site for me. I have a few places to weld and repair and a very few dents to remove. I'm taking pictures as I go. If anyone is interested I will post as I go :) :) :D Shelby, Sacramento.

Always like to see pictures.

Another product to consider for rust removal is Oxalic Acid. Better known as wood bleach. It comes in a powder form that you add water to. Get it at any hardware store. Cheap to use. Works really well for stuff like door lock assemblies, window crank mechanisms etc.. Turns rust to a black sludge that rinses away. Will not harm paint.

That is what RUST 911 does. Must have the same chemical in it.

The C L R removes the rust and scale and does not damage the metal. Vinegar and acid will damage the metal if the part stays in to long. This will not happen with C L R. Other things will work well but I'm sold on C L R. if I leave it in the solution a couple of days the metal is not damaged. I use acid to remove surface rust then neutralize the acid with baking soda solution the put metal prep on to stop the rust flash back then paint. been working for me for me. Scared to try a new approach to cleaning and restoring these pieces of history. :D Shelby, Sacramento
