You would have with a 4 speed in front, essentially 8 forward gears and 2 reverse gears. You can shift into 'Mitchell' with the Ford transmission in any gear you like. So, yes, you can leave the Mitchell in low range and ignore it.

I have a "utili TT" over / under drive unit. Anyone have any experiences with one? Three position shift. Straight thru, 50% under drive, and overdrive. It was bolted onto the front end of a '30 style worm drive rear end. All straight cut gears in it. Any input is appreciated.
