'31 Cab and fender removal

Post by wild4679 »

This is a rookie question: I am stripping the cab, fenders, running boards, skirts, etc from my '31. Basically down to the frame. I want to save all the sheet metal, restore it off frame, and return it to a sandblasted and repainted frame. Is there an orderly process that an experienced body person would follow in which all of this sheet metal comes off?

It will make itself obvious. Start at the top and work down. Tale lots of pictures. I use several plastic jars to hold hardware and write where it belongs on a piece of masking tape. A can of Aerokroil to spray on threads the day before will make hardware removal easier. www.kanolabs.com

If you are going to do metal work on the fenders they should be bolted to the frame with the fender
braces and the head light bar bolted up. If you work on them off the frame chances of getting everything
lined up are slim.
