Rim choice for lock ring conversion

I had the tires dismantled from my 20 inch lock ring rims yesterday. I learned what many of you already know: The rims looked good in the center and were rusted beyond repair under the tire. Additionally, the tire shop trashed the lock rings.

So, my choices are to find original rims and lock rings, or, at the tire shop's suggestion, cut out the original centers and put 19.5 inch rims on them. This isn't to be a show truck, so deviating from original is not a big priority. In your experience, what size and/or style of modern rim works well for this type of conversion, what tire works well to "appear natural" on the '31 AA''s, and what should know that I don't know about doing this?

Plan B is to buy original wheels and lock rings in good condition. Does anyone have a source?

Thanks Bud. I sent you a private message. Let's visit off line.

I'd appreciate replies from others who have done rim conversions that do not require locking rings.
