Flatbed

Just picked up a flatbed that supposedly came off a 28 AA frame. There's no FORD or FORD TRUCKS embossed on the back which makes me wonder. Also are there supposed to be stake pockets on the front. Thanks, Frank J

embossed ford was only on the very early 28s
the front of the bed should have 2 maybe 3 thin stake pockets where flat sock would slip there are normal square stake pockets along the edge and the back.

Starting in mid 1928, the design 3, 88-A platform had four external rear stake pockets without the embossed "Ford Truck". Check out

The front cross member had two stake pockets. Check out

Just because it came off of a '28 doesn't mean it left the factory with it.

Copy that! I've come up with some very convincing Frankensteins that give some old timers fits, but Henry was a frugal guy and these were just work trucks. My "29" is actually an early model '30 with a '29 body, rolled off the assembly line like that in June of 1930!

FYI - All Ford commercial vehicles (on A or AA chassis) used "A" prefixed body types through June 1930. The 82-A closed cab is not a "1929 body". It is a 1927 through June 1930 cab.
