11" steel front brake drums

I was abe to salvage my front brake drums. They were only about 0.003" out of round and a skim of about 0.010" got the surface clean. I installed reinforcing bands, so the 10% loss of material should be offset by the additional material of the bands. Installing the bands was straight forward. They were about 1/8" out of round upon arrival but a bit of a squeeze on the hydraulic press put that right. I put the bands in an old oven then got them close to red hot with the oxy-acetylene torch. They pretty much dropped on the drums with a couple of light taps with a hammer and drift. The shoes now have fresh linings, so i can start putting things back together with new king pins, straightened front axle, rebuilt shocks, new links, new shackles, straightened brake rods and a new front spring.
Next stop: rear brakes. More on that later.
Looking forward to better brakes.
