rear fender braces

The rear fender braces on my full fender 1928 AA flatbed are missing. It looks like they were mounted to the rear frame rails in a three bolt pattern and extended to the outer bead of the fender. I presume these braces were cast iron. Does anyone have any spares that they are willing to sell? or know where where to get these parts? I can probably fabricate something from plate and bent tubing that will function well if I had a photograph of the original part.
I cobbled together a temporary brace to keep the fenders from flapping in the breeze, but I would like to get (or make) something that is original or close to original in appearance.
Thanks, Alan in Roberts Creek

There were were early stamped steel brackets for those 88-A platforms without fender cutouts at cross members 3 & 4. These brackets and the matching fenders have not been observed yet.

Otherwise, for a 1928 platform with rear fenders, the fender brackets were bolted to the platform side sills (not the frame rails). The brackets were forged steel (not cast iron). AA rear fender bracket information/photos can be viewed at http://aafords.com/aa-chassis/aa-16000-fenders/#rfb.

There was a d1 and d2 AA-16445 forged steel rear fender bracket. The design usage was dependent on the rear fender design as documented at http://aafords.com/aa-chassis/aa-16000-fenders/#16438.

These forged steel brackets are quite unique and hard to find. I see them on Ebay from time-to-time.

Thanks Neil. A pair of the forged steel braces came up on eBay a few months ago, but I did not bid high enough for them. The pictures that you sent are a great help. And you are quite right, the mounting holes are in the wood sills and not in the frame rails. My memory is not what it used to be. I think I'll have a go with the pipe bender and the TIG welder to see if I can come up with something that resembles the pictures. I am not working on a show truck, so it does not have to be 100% original.
I pulled the rear wheels today in order to service the brakes. Unlike the front brakes, the drums and shoes are in excellent condition. The shoes have bonded linings and the working parts are rust free and unworn thanks to a heavy layer of petrified grease. A couple more hours in the parts washer and some work with the wire bush and they will be ready for paint and re-assembly.

I have a bracket not attached to a vehicle yet. If you need a tracing of it or a xerox of it let me know. It's not for sale. Another thought is get a banged up front bracket and bend it to shape. A friend did this with success. Pilsyahs@gmail.com
