Anyone have a source for rebuilding the front shocks for a 29 AA truck?

Re: Shock Rebuilding
It can be done a lot cheaper doing it yourself than buying new ones. I have done it with success using the rebuild kits Snyders and Brattons offer. The hardest part is finding rebuildable ones and the even harder part is getting them open. It takes a lot of heat. You need to get them cherry red to get them to spin apart. Next pair I do I am going to preheat in a charcoal fired BBQ grille to try to save on oxy & acetylene.

I was able to pull covers off my shocks. One moves freely and the other is stuck. Called John Holland and he gets 75.00 each for rebuilding. I will be sending them over. Thanks. By the way - the trick to getting them apart is to fill them with WD40 and wait a week. Covers came off with a big set of channel locks

One of the shocks I removed was stamped “AA” and “CW”. Was the AA front shocks any different than th A shocks? I do believe the shock arms are bigger.

Re: Shock Rebuilding
I took the covers off of 5 shock with out a vise or channel locks. Matter of fact I screwed the covers and lock rings off with my fingers only. First I took a medium ball peen hammer and went all way around the cover pining all the way around the cover and around it again and again til I could turn the cover by hand. and the ring the same thing. I learned to do this 50 years ago when I was in Viet Nam, it still works. Haven't had a chance to tackle the "BIG" nut yet. When I do get to them, I'll fire up my grill and I will post the results . Re: Shock Rebuilding
you just hit them with a hammer till the rust is loose and they will comapart.
