I'm working to get the hinges removed from my doors...I've removed the screws on the door side of the hinges and the hinges will wiggle freely within the door, however they won't come out of the door. Is there some other retainer that I'm missing?

Not that I am aware of. They should just slide right out. How rusty is the door. They may need a little persuasion.

yup remove screws and should slide out - over the years the metal around the screws can dig into the hinge itself and cause it to hang up. might try tapping the hinge out with a block a wood and soak the area in some kinda rust penatrent.

Thanks...I've persuaded them with a 2 pound dead blow hammer to the point I was afraid of damaging something. Like you say, maybe the screw countersinks in the sheet metal are hanging up on the hinge. I'll look into a different kind of persuasion, like a pry bar.
