28 Windshield info

Post by emf »

I have an early 28 AA that was built as a firetruck and it appears to be either a 75A or 76A body. The door hinge posts are clearly part of the cowl, but the hinge holes have never been drilled for hinges. The windshield on this truck is an aftermarket folding one that I like very much, but it is very low. The wind in the face at 40 mph is breath taking... The measurement from the top hole in the ram's horn to the center of the top hole is just 12 inches. Can anyone tell me what the original windshield height is? I think this one is a car windshield and if the truck windshield is taller, I might be looking for one.

Middle of windshield including frame 13 inches. Outside edge including frame 15 inches. Nice truck.

Thanks, it sounds like this windshield, while aftermarket, is the same size as the factory one. I guess I'll keep it....

If wind is a real issue, Can you lower the seat?

The seat is hard mounted to the pump, which is hard mounted to the frame. I don't think the seat is going anywhere...

Snyder's Model A parts list A37323/24-AR called Model A Top Clamping Bracket. With a pair of these maybe a header of wood or plexiglass could be added to the top of your windshield. A view of these parts are on Snyder's online catalogue. Best, Ed

My helmet has a shield. I'll probably just wear that. It only affect me when the outside temp is below 50*
