distributor lock bolt stripped
distributor lock bolt stripped
my 28 aa has the lock bolt stripped that comes in from side of head. any ideas on heliocoils, good bad? or do i tap it a bit larger. it appears to be a model B distributor housing because the condenser is exposed and not inside a cast tube like my other model A's. any ideas? this is the bolt with slotted head that has the larger locking nut that goes on last.

I see no problem with installing a helicoil. I did one for a friend a while back. Put a rag in the distributor hole to catch metal shavings and then vacuum them out before removing the rag.

helicoil is good. Probably a standard, recommended repair method. Do it.. ( But like mentioned, watch out for chips getting inside engine. Rag or Magnets work well also).

i just drilled it out, tapped it and put a stud one size bigger, works great and cheaper than a heliocoil. could not believe the price of a heliocoil.
