Glad it didn't burn up. Consider getting the fuse that mounts on the starter. Would have prevented the possibility of the truck catching fire.

agreed - looks like the cone insulator/actuator broke apart and spring shorted out the contact to ground.

If you paint the fuse holder a nice satin black it blends in nicely with the engine compartment.

If someone with the knowledge and equipment could make the wood pieces I am sure some of us would be buyers.

I really like your truck. What are your plans for the finish. Leaving it as is?

Putting bed wood in and I need some wood screws for a couple of spots in the bed strips that go into the wood rail. Does anyone know the modern equivalent size of these screws? As most of the wood had rotted away on bed I was able to salvage almost all original bolts with exception of these screws. I picked up some screws today but heads were to small.

See http://aafords.com/open-bodies/express- ... etails/#cf and scroll to the gallery. F5 screws in skid strips are #12 x 2 flat head slotted wood screw. This is listed in the parts list at http://aafords.com/open-bodies/express- ... #pl-89a-cf.

For now I plan on leaving finish as is. Regarding screws - I tried the #12 screw and head was way to small. Picked up #14 and #16 screws today and size 16 seams to be the right size.

You could show pictures of you skid strips. They are likely modified from original based on what I have seen.

Great looking survivor. I agree leave it alone. I would probably wipe it down with some kind of oil to keep the rust away.
