Disassembly question

Post by Deere boy »

If I want to remove the underdrive from a 1928 AA, do I need to start by pulling the rear axle back, then the short drive shaft, then the underdrive? Or is there some way to remove it without taking everything behind or in front of it?

Not sure what you have because the Dual High underdrive goes in place of the short coupling shaft.

Unfortunately there is no easy way to get it out. I would pull the rear end out to get at it. While you have it out it would be a good opportunity to pull the transmission and go through it. Wont get any easier.

In looking at what I have here I now notice the frame has been extended on the truck. You have the tranny, underdrive, a shaft about 20" long and then the regular drive shaft.
