Anyone ever measured temperature on Warford after traveling significant distance? I went on 20 mile drive at top speed of 57 and when I got home the Warford temperature was 185. Seems a little warm. 3 speed transmission was 135. It also seems to make a lot of noise along with some vibration.

They'll make noise since they have straight cut gears.

As far as the temperature, I wouldn't worry about it. You don't measure the temperature in your modern car, do you? Or your wheel bearings? I assume your shooting the case temp with an infrared temp gun. If you're really concerned you would measure the oil temperature as it's being used, and not after a run when heat soak has set in. ALso, the warford used gear oil which has a wide range of viscosity and can handle the temperature you mentioned. Drive it and don't worry about it.

The Warford makes " lot of noise" because it's about worn out. You can replace the bearings but that wont help much. The only other way to restore it to it's original "quiet" state would be to hard-chrome the gears back to specs. My Warford makes little noise and will push my express along a 55 all day long.
