88-A Platform Measurement Question

Post by dlevy »

Hi,

Can anyone please tell me the spacing between the holes in the sill plates/bed strips on the 88-A platform?

A measurement of the spacing between each of the 11 bolts in the skid strips starting with #1 at the first cross member behind the cab.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Dave

Dave,
"sill plates" are attached to the sills - see https://aafords.com/open-bodies/platfor ... tails/#fsa

"bed strips" are named skid strips - see https://aafords.com/open-bodies/platfor ... etails/#cf. There is a carriage bolt at cross member 1-5 and one slightly forward of the rear cross member. There is a bolt centered between each cross sill. Can you determine the measurements wanted by measuring of your platform?
Regards, Neil Wilson

Hi Guys,

Thanks. I saw those resources and they are fantastic, but I still need the measurements.

My wood sills were cut and the ends were also cut off of my cross members. I made new hard maple sills and I am making new cross members. I drew the cross members in CAD and can lay them out in CAD on the sill so I know everything fits correctly and then I will cut them on a laser.

I really just need to know the spacing between the cross members to make sure that my spacing is correct where the angle bracket (between the sill and cross member) is riveted onto the cross members. I figured it was easiest for someone to measure the carriage bolt spacing on their original skid strips.

Any help with those measurements would really be appreciated.

Thanks,
Dave

dlevy, I should know you but I can't connect dlevy to your name?

I have a .vsd (Visio) file of the attached image. The .vsd drawing is very accurate. I can save this .vsd as a .dwg or .dxf and email it to you. I also have "Floor Skid Strips & Retainers 88-A & 89-A.doc" which contains a table with skid strip hole spacing which I can email to you.

Email to neil@aafords.com if you want to.

Hi Neil,

You do know me. David Levy from New York. We spoke several times on the phone and I bought the 88-A side members and a couple of other parts from you.

I appreciate the offer for the other drawings in .dwg format. I will send you an email with the request.

Thanks again!
