With the drill I was able to get a good rotation speed to polish the shaft. Here you can see the finished result.

Thank you for the concept on how to make this repair. Now on to the next part.

Looks better than new! Love seeing these threads. Haven’t gotten to rear axle yet on mine. Working my way back.
This reminds me of 18th century technology for milling forged gun lock tumblers from rough forgings.
