King pins

Just curious, anyone know why A has thrust bearing on top and AA on bottom? Old one ton Chevys and GMCs I used to work on had them on bottom like AA.

Good question, pretty sure they can be installed either on top or on the bottom (I think I've done both) but as you say the correct position is on the bottom on a double A which would move the spindle up would it not?

I don't think the spindle locking pin will allow the bearing to be installed either way.

Just think about where the 'load' is carried. The axel pushes down on to the bearing then the bearing onto the spindle. ( I think)?
