Engine front support question

Hi,

What is the correct engine front support?

The parts in the top of the picture with the double spring were the pieces I removed when I disassembled the truck.

The parts in the bags are what I bought from Snyder’s as a front engine mount kit with 3 individual springs and a spring plate.

Thanks
Dave

Google :image for model A Ford front motor mount and see fig 1081 and 1224. These are from the Ford Service Bulletins.

Thanks.

So the top version was original and the Service Bulletins reflect upgrades?

Thanks
Dave

The top one is aftermarket and they had rubber inside the springs.
You have to check the springs on the new kit as some of the springs are to long.
I think Bert's sells a kit with the correct springs. Marco has the prints for the springs on his site. https://web.archive.org/web/20140609222 ... /mount.htm

I just bought the Floating Front mount from Snyder's. This is the upgrade that Henry used on the "B" engines. https://www.snydersantiqueauto.com/Prod ... otor-parts

Forgive this question, but the judging standards refer to a black enameled castle nut and cotter pin.

So it was painted black or was there a special electro-finish?

The parts book show the nut had a Japan black finish. I think the front mount was
installed in the chassis before the engine so it may have been painted with the frame.
