Pulling Transmission
1930 with 4 speed. Engine is out. Front axle is out. As soon as new brake linings arrive I will begin reassembling front axle. Next I want to go through transmission. Do I just unbolt it from coupling shaft and slide forward? Any other transmission advice appreciated. What is most typically worn out on these?

Re: Pulling Transmission
You are on the right track. Unbolt that clamshell and pull it out.

Re: Pulling Transmission
The clamshell is back at the other end of coupling shaft: where it connects to torque tube.

Re: Pulling Transmission
Just pull it out!!! Cut off what ever is hanging up and fix what you broke latter. That's how I do it..

Re: Pulling Transmission
Yes, remove the bolts from the front coupling shaft support and the 4-speed will move forward and out. Original setup has a gear bolted to the rear of the transmission which slides out of the coupling shaft. Hopefully your AA will have the pointed gear-to-transmission bolt and the thrust spring.David R. wrote: ↑April 9th, 2020, 5:29 am1930 with 4 speed. Engine is out. Front axle is out.
