88-A Bed-Strip Fasteners/Mounting Between Cross Members

Post by slavalley »

Hello Everyone!

I just picked up some original floor skids/bed-strips. Can anyone help me understand what kind of hardware/washer should be used on the underside of the fasteners at the location between the cross members?

Thank you, Scott

Scott, There is a parts listing showing the floor to support assembly attachment at https://aafords.com/open-bodies/platfor ... #pl-88a-cf. The carriage bolts, lock washers, and square nuts are all the same (except the bolt length above the rear fenders). Between the floor cross members, there is a 1" square washer (1 corner curled). Illustrations of these fasteners are at https://aafords.com/open-bodies/platfor ... etails/#cf.

I believe that the square washers are the same as used for the pickup body. You will need to find original carriage bolts or modify new carriage bolts to have the correct head size of 5/16-18 x 2 (7/64 x 3/4 head) carriage bolt. I don't know if you will find correct sized new square nuts (5/16-18 (1/4 x 9/16) square nut (chamfered 1 side).
