Front Radiator Splash Shield Felt Question

Hi,

For an early 1931 AA, can anyone share a picture of the front radiator splash shield felt on the top center of the shield.

I understand that this piece of felt should mount between the splash shield and the radiator shield, but my splash shield does not have holes in it to accommodate the rivets for the felt. Also when installed, in my mind, it seems as though it would be visible.

Thanks,
Dave

If i remember correctly I ended up gluing mine in. As far as visible? I don't have a clue. But I have a '28 so it may be different..

I believe that the 28-29 should have two felt pads and the 30-31 have one pad from what I read.

In all cases I think they are riveted on with split rivets.

My shield does not even have holes for the rivets, so I am unsure if it should be there or not. Maybe my shield is a repro without rivet holes?? There is also only about a 1/16" of clearance on my shield so not sure how it would fit in. The Snyder's felt pad part is about 3/8" thick.

It must be a repo. If the 3/8" is too much, Try to slice it to fit. Or make your own 'pads'. Then glue it in place. When it is all together I don't think you can see it so no problem. I believe it is there just to prevent rattles. Some times you just gotta get creative!!
