Hi,

I am working on my 88-A platform bed. I made all new cross members, but am using the original angle brackets to side sills (AA-88061) and original side members (AA-88091).

On the each end of both of the original side members (AA-88091), there are 2 punched holes. I cannot figure out what they are for. Are they supposed to be there, or should I weld them up? (See pictures below)

Also:

Is it truly accurate that the AA-88084 bracket (side sill to frame) extends past the edge of the wood floor side sill (AA-88030d3)?
Seems like there is enough length to have the side of the bracket even with the end of wood side sill.
See picture below. (So sorry for this question Neil, but I just want to make sure!)

Holes are not original.

AA-88030 d1, d2, d3 were all backwards compatible. Consequently, an owner of an AA with the d1 platform could order a replacement AA-88030 and it would be the correct length. AA-88030 d1 was designed to be used with frame stops. Other than originally, the sill could be longer.

FYI – bracket AA-88084 was fit next to the AA-88061 angle (no space). Moving the bracket forward results in moving the platform rearward. This would result in a misfit of rear fenders. Otherwise, it makes little difference (gives a little more space between the cab and platform).
