Pitman Steering Arm

Post by Shiloh8548 »

Hello everyone! I’m new to the Forum and to the AA but have built a couple A’s in the past.
On regular model A’s it’s common practice to shorten the steering pitman arm. I assume it’s for tighter, faster turning.
My question is, is it also common practice to do this to the double A’s. What are the pros and cons of doing so?

A shortened pitman arm results in a smaller turning radius. It allows for easier turning. Kind of like power steering.

This would be the same for both the a and the double a.

Thanks Neil! On the A’s I’ve done in the past I would shorten them about 1 1/2 inches. I’m assuming it will be the same for the AA?
