AA Universal Joint

Post by emf »

I recently purchased a group of universal joints that were advertised as Model AA joints. One universal joint is not the same as mine. I have an early 28 AA with the 3 speed transmission and the universal joint has 6 splines in and 10 splines out. This one has 10 splines in and 10 splines out. I have searched the Model AA truck club web site but it's not clear to me. Is this universal joint (10 in, 10 out) used on the trucks with the 4 speed transmission?

The 10x10 goes between the jack shaft and drive shaft on 1930-31.

FYI - 12/32 Ford Parts Price List:

AA-7090-B U-joint for 1929—1931
BB-7090 U-joint for 1932

Both of the above are 10 splines in/out. A measurement of the splines would determine if your U-joint fits an AA or BB drive shaft.

The one I pictured slides right over my spare AA drive shaft. I have another that is a bit larger in diameter, possibly BB. I'll get measurements today...

Frank

The AA u-joint measures 1.240" across the splines, Larger one measures 1.350" across splines.

Great that you verified that it was an AA u-joint

Hi Frank,

If the AA universal joint you have for sale is the AA-7090 for a 1930-31, I am interested in it.

Would you kindly PM me with the price?

Thanks,
Dave
