Valve stem for outside dual wheel

Post by Rumbler »

For a 1931 AA with dual wheels, I understand how bent valve stems are needed for the front wheels and the inside duals. But are bent stems also used for the outside dual (and you just orient the bent stem so it faces outward) or straight stems?

Thanks for the reply Bob. I kept looking for more information since it seemed to me that facing the stem of the outside dual toward the lock ring would make it difficult to access. However I found the below diagram in the May 1930 Ford Service Bulletin. Looking at the upper Figure 904 shows that the double bent stem should be readily accessible from either side, so this supports your response.

Most of the stems I have are like the ones in the above picture I posted. I use an air chuck like this.
