For anyone interested - A replacement coupling shaft thrust spring replacement is now available.
Unable to locate an acceptable replacement thrust spring for my AA truck restoration, an original spring was borrowed and provided to Burt's Model A Center, and they had several new ones made at a local spring manufacturer that match the original specs.
This is the AA-4822 thrust spring that is part of the AA-4802-B coupling shaft and housing assembly for the 30-31 bevel gear rear end configuration.
See below for assembly photos (from Neal Wilson on the AAFords-FMAATC website), along with a photo of the new spring replacement.

Am I correct that the housing rear support for the short shaft is located on the front of the cross member for stock configuration. And on the replacement it slips through the cross member from the back. https://aafords.com/aa-chassis/aa-4802- ... peed-aa/#i

Re: AA Coupling Shaft Thrust Spring Replacement Available
I see now how it’s supposed to be installed. I’m still wondering why the 4808 housing can’t be installed on the front side of the cross member. Another thing I didn’t realize, the universal joint has to be bolted to the intermediate shaft. I was wondering why I had an extra 7095 retainer.
I can’t rotate the rear drive shaft. Spinning the wheels won’t rotate it because the revolve opposite directions. Should I be able to attach a wrench to the universal joint and spin the shaft easily. I haven’t done anything other than remove the rear end as a complete unit.

Upon further fiddling, I attached the short shaft and used vice grips to get the driveline to revolve. It was stuck from sitting.
